So, what are fogous? They are rather mysterious underground passages found in some Iron Age villages in the Land's End Penisula, Cornwall, and nearby. Archaelogists are not sure of their purpose and consider that they may possibly have been for storage purposes. Other posibilities include some kind of ceremonial use. If you are interested in fogous, the Iron Age or the ancient sites in general in this ancient granite landscape where the presence of the past is so enfolding this book will be engrossing. Published by the author it covers all the existing fogous in detail with diagrams etc and much discussion, all the possible ones and the lost possible ones too. Excellently produced with atmospheric photos by the author too it IS specialist but doesn't feel or look like that in the purely academic sense. Perhaps because the author's own love of this ancient land and its mysterious sites comes across.
