About the event
Join us on the 4th of April for a special mask-making workshop with artist Calista Wild, celebrating the upcoming 50th anniversary of the first Owlman sighting in Mawnan Smith.
Deep within the wooded valleys of West Cornwall, the legend of the Owlman first took flight in 1976 when two young girls reported seeing a large winged figure near the church tower at Mawnan Smith. Since then, the story has become one of Cornwall’s most intriguing modern folklore encounters, whispered about by locals and visitors alike.
In this hands-on workshop, Calista Wild will guide participants through the process of creating their own Owlman-inspired mask, drawing on folklore, imagination, and the mysterious atmosphere of the Cornish landscape. Whether you come for the story, the creativity, or the chance to craft something unique, this event invites you to explore one of Cornwall’s strangest legends through art.
Tickets are £35 per person. While lunch…
