Making It Work (Without Losing the Magic)

A free, informal workshop for creative entrepreneurs, artists and makers who are trying to build something sustainable from their craft. Hosted by Rob, the founder of Dark Cornwall (and a former startup investor in games, film and VFX), the session will offer some practical insights gathered over the years – along with a few honest stories of what didn’t work.

We’ll discuss structuring a creative business that can grow without compromising your values, exploring sources of funding beyond grants, increasing awareness for your work, and managing your ‘burn rate’ so you have the time to make it all happen. We’ll also explore the lean startup model – testing, failing (often), and learning to pivot without losing momentum.

This will be a relaxed, interactive session, whether you want to speak, listen silently with your camera off, or something in between. Depending on interest, we may host it in-person in Truro if…
